AUGUSTA — Edmund J. Cervone, of Hallowell, has been named president and CEO of the Maine Development Foundation, its board of directors said in a news release Thursday.

The foundation supports economic, workforce, leadership and community development across the state, according to the release.

Cervone has served as interim president since June.

He joined the foundation as the senior program director and operations officer in 2007.

Cervone is a graduate of the foundation’s Leadership Maine Xi Class and has served in related leadership roles in other states, including Colorado, New Jersey and Delaware, the release said.

Cervone received a bachelor’s of arts degree in geosciences from Princeton University and master’s of science in ecology and environmental sciences from the University of Maine.

He also serves on the Hallowell City Council.
