CONCORD, N.H. — Two more people in New Hampshire have been diagnosed with fungal meningitis bringing the number affected in the state to six related to a national outbreak.
The state Department of Health and Human Services said Tuesday the two new cases are under care and the residents are not hospitalized.
The cases are related to the nationwide fungal meningitis outbreak, which has been linked to steroid medications produced by the New England Compounding Center in Framingham, Mass.
In New Hampshire, the medication believed to be related to the outbreak was distributed to Pain Care LLC’s locations in Somersworth, Merrimack and Newington.
Fungal meningitis cases have been recorded in 14 states besides New Hampshire. So far, 231 cases have been reported, including 15 deaths.
