MISSOULA, Mont. — A Maine-based aluminum trailer manufacturer has signed a lease to move into a 70,000-square-foot facility at the old Stimson mill site in Bonner.

The Missoulian reports the Aluminum Company of Maine Inc. plans to start production early next year and could bring as many as 60 jobs to the area. The company is already advertising.

The location is to be ALCOM’s West Coast distribution site. ALCOM was founded in 2006 in Waterville with a core group of 20 employees.

According to a 2011 Morning Sentinel story the company’s annual sales topped $2 million during that first year, when it purchased High Country Trailers and expanded its product line to include cargo and snow trailers.

By the fall of 2009, ALCOM had about 65 employees at a 47,000-square-foot rented industrial building off West River Road in Waterville.

ALCOM next moved to a 70,000-square-foot space in Winslow, where it currently employs about 200 people.

Missoula Economic Partnership President James Grunke announced the deal Wednesday during a meeting with the Missoula City Council. Bonner Property Development LLC co-owner Mike Boehme says renovation of the facility will begin Monday.
