RICHMOND — A Rokell Farm Road garage housing a pickup and tools was destroyed by fire Tuesday night.

Fire Chief Matt Roberge said no one was injured in the fire, but the two-story garage at 81 Rokell Farm Road owned by Michael Lorbeski was destroyed.

“It’s a total loss,” Roberge said today.

Lorbeski’s nearby home was not damaged, Roberge said.

The chief was unsure where in the garage the fire started or how it was sparked. The State Fire Marshal’s Office was expected to arrive today to help determine the cause of the blaze.

“It appears to be accidental,” Roberge said.

The fire started around 11:30 p.m.. It took firefighters from Richmond, Bowdoin, Bowdoinham, Dresden and Litchfield nearly an hour to control the fire, Roberge said. The last firefighters remained until shortly after 3 a.m. Wednesday.

“It was fully involved,” Roberge said. “We went into a defensive mode to protect the house. It wasn’t in immediate danger but we didn’t want it to spread.”
