AUGUSTA — A Livermore Falls woman injured in a head-on crash that killed another motorist Friday afternoon is in stable condition.
Rita Cushman, 65, of Livermore Falls, was taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston with a severe leg cut, according to police.
A nursing supervisor at the hospital said Saturday that Cushman was in stable condition.
The accident killed Helen Hinckley, 76, of Whitefield.
State police said Hinckley’s Subaru swerved out of the eastbound lane of Route 17 and hit the westbound Ford Ranger pickup truck driven by Cushman.
Police said Hinckley may have suffered a medical problem before the crash, which was reported at 1:50 p.m. Friday, near Route 17’s intersection with Main Street in the Coopers Mills area of Whitefield.
