GARDINER — A paper snowflake workshop to benefit Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Conn., will take place from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Gardiner Public Library, 152 Water St.

In the wake of the recent tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School, the Connecticut PTSA has asked that people send snowflakes to help give Sandy Hook students a winter wonderland at their new school, according to a news release from the library.

Jamie Dacyczyn of the Gardiner Police Department will lead the workshop. All are welcome. Participants are encouraged to bring a pair of scissors.

Snowflakes can also be sent to Connecticut PTSA, 60 Connolly Parkway, Building 12, Suite 103, Hamden, CT 06514, by Jan. 12.
