FAIRFIELD — Freshmen Nia Irving and Dominique Lewis combined for 13 fourth-quarter points as the Lawrence girls basketball team rallied to a 40-36 win over Hampden Academy in a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class A game Tuesday.

Irving finished with a game-high 21 points and 14 rebounds while Lewis scored 10 points and had six assists. Lawrence (3-1) trailed by five points, 30-25, heading into the fourth quarter.

Erica Mechan had nine points for Hampden Academy (1-3).

Messalonskee 38, Brewer 31: Kassie Michaud scored 11 points while Kelsey Mayo added 10 as the visiting Eagles (2-2) handed the Witches their first loss of the season in a KVAC A game.

Taylor Easler and Mayo each added seven rebounds.

Brewer (3-1) was led by Emily Gilmore with nine points.

Nokomis 36, Winslow 24: Anna Mackenzie had 13 points as the Warriors beat the Black Raiders in a KVAC B game in Newport.

Lindsay Whitney and Kelsie Richards each added six points for Nokomis, which remains unbeaten at 4-0.

Devin Fitzgibbons had 14 points for Winslow (1-3).

Mt. Ararat 58, Skowhegan 46: Mallory Nelson scored 24 points to lead the visiting Eagles to the KVAC A win. Kristy Willey chipped in with 14 points for Mt. Ararat (4-0) while Caitlin Lafountain scored 11.

Skowhegan (1-3) was led by Cheyenne Malloy with 12 points and Morgan Buker with 10.

Edward Little 72, Erskine 34: Ashlee Arnold scored a game-high 24 points, including six 3-pointers, and Kory Norcross added 14 to lead the Red Eddies to the KVAC A win in Auburn.

Kate Sawyer scored 13 points for EL (3-1), which jumped out to a 21-8 lead and never looked back.

Bridget Humphrey scored 20 points to pace the Eagles (0-4).

Boys basketball

Nokomis 59, Winslow 54: The visiting Warriors outscored the Black Raiders 25-8 in the third quarter on their way to the KVAC B win.

Spencer Hartsgrove scored 26 points, making five 3-pointers in the third quarter, to lead Nokomis (3-1). Andrew Cartwright added 15 points.

Winslow (2-2) was led by Trevor Lovely with 25 points and six steals. Justin Martin had 11 rebounds.

Gardiner 56, Mt. View 53: Jensen Orewiler hit a 3-pointer with 4.6 seconds left to give the Tigers a KVAC B win in Gardiner.

Orewiler finished with 10 points for Gardiner, which improves to 3-1. Tyler Jamison led the Tigers with 17 points and nine rebounds and Seth McFarland added 13. Dennis Meehan chipped in with eight points, five rebounds and three steals.

Jack Simpson and Nate Wren both had 13 points for Mt. View (1-3). Steven Davis added 11 points.

Waterville 53, MCI 39: Chris Hale had 15 points as the Panthers beat the Huskies in a KVAC B game in Pittsfield.

Josh Gormley and Jordan Derosby each added 10 points for Waterville (2-2).

Kael McCarthy had 18 points for MCI (0-4).

Edward Little 77, Erskine 57: The Eddies outscored the Eagles 42-29 in the second half on their way to the KVAC A win in Auburn.

Sean Ford scored 18 points to lead Edward Little (4-0) while Nate Alexander added 13.

Devin Duncan led all scorers with 28 points for Erskine (0-4).Caleb McGuire chipped in with 15 while Jared Gartley had 10.

Mt. Ararat 44, Skowhegan 35: The Eagles outscored the Indians 14-5 in the fourth quarter to pull away for a KVAC A win in Topsham.

Mason Griffin had 13 points and eight rebounds for Mt. Ararat (3-1).

Tyler Bacon had 12 points and Isaac Witham scored 11 for Skowhegan (1-3).

Hampden 62, Lawrence 37: Zach Gilpin scored a game-high 19 points to lead the Broncos to the KVAC A win in Hampden.

Brian Fickett scored eight points and Nick Gilpin added seven for Hampden (4-0), which led 28-10 at the half and 48-13 after three quarters.

Chris Doyon and Cole Robinson paced the Bulldogs (3-1) with seven points.
