Staff report

WINSLOW — Jared Cunningham and his brother Chase Cunningham combined for 11 points as the Messalonskee boys hockey team cruised to a 6-1 win over Houlton/Hodgdon at Sukee Arena on Saturday.

Jared had three goals and two assists, while Chase had two goals and four assists for Messalonskee (6-0-0). Jake Dexter added a goal and an assist for the Eagles, who face fellow unbeaten Brewer on Wednesday at Sukee Arena.

Ben Weeks earned the win for the Eagles, making 15 saves.

Brendan Malone scored the lone goal with an assist from Lucas Grant for Houlton/Hodgdon (1-4-0). Payton Porter had 25 saves.

Skowhegan 5, Gray-New Gloucester/Poland 0: The Indians had a 42-8 advantage in shots on goal and rolled to the victory in Winslow.

Trey Michonski scored two goals for Skowhegan (5-0-0). Camden DesPres and Kyle Demchak each had a goal and an assist for the indians, while Sam Haver added a goal. Chase Nelson, Jake Johnson and Jonathan Lee each added one assist and Sam Edmondson made eight saves.

Calvin Shelley had 37 saves for GNG/Poland (2-3-0).

Boys basketball

Mt. Abram 65, Telstar 46: Ian James had 23 points as the Roadrunners beat the Rebels in a Mountain Valley Conference game in Bethel.

Cal Dixon added 12 points for Mt. Abram (2-5).

Michael Del Duca had 17 points and Nicholas Mills had 11 for Telstar (1-4).

Lawrence 67, Mt. Blue 22: The Bulldogs jumped out to a 27-4 first-quarter lead en route to a Kennebec ValleyAthletic Conference Class A win in Fairfield.
Spencer Carey scored 20 points, grabbed nine rebounds and dished out six assists, while Matt Saunders added five assists and Xavier Lewis six steals for Lawrence (6-1).
Mt. Blue falls to 0-6.

Forest Hills 86, Acadia Christian 32: Evan Worster had 21 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists as the Tigers won in Jackman.

Matt Turner added 17 points, while Tanner Daigle had 11 points and 12 rebounds for Forest Hills (7-0). Derick Ouellette chipped in 12 points.

Jake Chasse had a game-high 29 points for Acadia Christian (1-4).

Oxford Hills 56, Erskine 49: Matt Beauchense had 18 points as the Vikings beat the Eagles in a KVAC A game in South Paris.

Ryan Godin added nine points for Oxford Hills (3-3).

Devin Duncan had 15 points and Caleb McGuire 12 for Erskine (0-6).

Girls basketball

Oxford Hills 61, Erskine 25: Alex Rowe, Brooke Murch and Kelsey Dublois all scored eight points as the Vikings beat the Eagles in a KVAC A game in South China.

Bridget Humphrey had 12 points, eight rebounds and five steals for Erskine (0-6).
Oxford Hills improves to 5-1.

Forest Hills 65, Acadia Christian 19: Kori Coro had 17 points as the Tigers cruised to a win in Jackman.

Anna Carrier added eight points and 10 assists, while Dana McNally had five points and 10 rebounds for Forest Hills (7-0). Jessica Hoyt added seven points.

Men’s basketball

Maine 76, Quinnipiac 71: Justin Edwards scored a game-high 26 points as the Black Bears beat the Bobcats in Hamden, Conn.

Alasdair Fraser added 14 points and 11 rebounds, while Jon Mesghna had 13 points and four assists for Maine (5-8).

Ike Azotam had 16 points and nine rebounds for Quinnipiac (4-7).

Also Saturday: Richmond High School graduate Mark Zaharchuk had 24 points and 14 rebounds as the Husson men’s basketball team beat Delaware Valley 80-73 in the first game of the CUA-Holiday Inn College Park Classic in Washington, D.C.
