Staff report

BREWER — Trey Michonski scored at 7 minutes, 57 seconds of the third period as the Skowhegan Area High School boys hockey team beat Hampden Academy 2-1 on Wednesday to remain unbeaten.

Kyle Demchak assisted on the game-winner. Jake Johnson scored in the first period for Skowhegan (8-0-0), with an assist from Michonski. Sam Edmondson made 29 saves.

Dylan Cray scored an unassisted goal for Hampden (2-3-0). Cody Varney finished with 17 saves.

Brewer 6, Lawrence 1: Six different players had a goal apiece as the Witches defeated the Bulldogs in Winslow.

Jonathan Shedd, Tyler Davis, Gabe Valley, Zach Torrey, Andrew Fleischman and Gehrig White each scored for Brewer (6-2-0). Patrick Spaulding made 16 saves.

Josh Doolan scored with an assist from Tyler Boudreau for Lawrence (4-5-0). Kyle McLain stopped 27 shots.

Girls basketball

Madison 44, Mt. Abram 32: The Bulldogs led by 23 at the half and cruised to a win over  the Roadrunners in a Mountain Valley Conference game in Salem Township.

Sam Bruce scored 20 points for Madison, which led 33-10 at halftime. Bronte Elias added 13 points. Madison is now 7-2.

Jill Howard scored 12 points and Miranda Smith had 10 for Mt. Abram, which dropped to 4-5.

Rangeley 54, Buckfield 29: The Lakers led 32-8 at halftime and coasted to the Western D win in Rangeley.

Jenney Abbott had 14 points, 10 rebounds and five steals for Rangeley (7-0). Taylor Esty chipped in with 14 points, eight rebounds and four steals. Tori Letarte added nine points.

Michelle Mazon led Buckfield (2-7) with 10 points.

Boys basketball

Buckfield 51, Rangeley 24: Keenan Stockdale scored 15 points and Jeffrey Pepin added 12 to lead the Bucks to the East/West Conference win in Rangeley.

Buckfield (3-5) led 8-0 at the end of the first quarter.

AJ Elms led the Lakers  (2-5) with 10 points.
