PRESQUE ISLE — Messalonskee graduate Mary Badeen matched a career-high with 26 points and grabbed five rebounds to lead Maine Maritime Academy to a 77-41 win over the University of Maine at Presque Isle in a non-conference women’s basketball game Sunday.

Bekah Campbell added a career-high 19 points for the Mariners (9-9). Leah Jackson chipped in with nine points and a game-high 13 rebounds.

UMPI (5-13) was led by Olivia McNally with 10 points.

Skiing

Nordic: The first-ever collegiate Nordic ski event at the Quarry Road Recreation Area ended with Colby College’s Molly Susla taking 20th place in the women’s 15-kilometer race.

Susla had a time of 46 minutes, 49.8 seconds, while teammate Sarah Brockett was 29th in 47:20.0. Lizzie Anderson took 35th place for the Mules in 47:56.5 in helping the women take ninth place.

The Colby men also finished in ninth place after John Dixon took 35th place in 50:51.1.

Also Sunday: Hall-Dale graduate Paige McNaughton earned points for the Husson women’s indoor track and field team by finishing seventh in the weight throw (10.92 meters). … Waterville graduate Katy Massey had a goal and an assist in the University of Maine’s 9-2 loss to Providence in women’s hockey.
