WINTHROP — A Wayne teenager was injured Monday morning when his car veered off U.S. Route 202 and went airborne before landing on Pineland Drive.

Noah Liscord, 17, a student at Kents Hill School, was taken by ambulance to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, said Winthrop Police Officer Timothy Falvey. Liscord was conscious but suffered what Falvey said may have been serious injuries.

A hospital spokeswoman said today that Liscord was listed in fair condition.

The crash occurred around 8:45 a.m. as Liscord drove his 2005 Honda Civic west on Route 202. The Honda drifted off the right side of the road and rolled down a 8-foot embankment, Falvey said.

The car hit a culvert, which propelled it into the air, before stopping on Pineland Drive.

Falvey said the car left no skid marks, suggesting Liscord may have been distracted at the time of the crash. Police are still investigating but no charges are expected, he said.

“We’re just trying to find out what happened,” Falvey said.

He said the Honda was destroyed in the crash.

An earlier version of this story misidentified the driver due to a police error.
