READFIELD — Taylor Wilbur scored 28 points to lead No. 8 Maranacook to a 72-65 win against No. 9 Yar-mouth in a Wes-tern Maine Class B preliminary-round tournament game Tuesday night.

The Black Bears trailed 19-5 at the end of the first quarter but turned the game around in the second period with a 25-9 advantage. Wilbur made six 3-pointers for the winners while Caleb Jackson chipped in 12 points and Kyle Boucher 11 points, 12 rebounds and three blocked shots.

David Murphy led the Clippers with 24 points while teammate Nate Shields-Auble added 12. Maranacook (9-10) advances to play No. 1 Falmouth on Saturday at the Portland Expo while Yarmouth finishes at 10-9.

Western Class C girls

No. 6 Monmouth 47, No. 11 Kents Hill 37: Kylie Kemp had 14 points and 16 rebounds as the host Mustangs pulled away in the third quarter to earn a Western C prelim win.

Monmouth improves to 14-5 and advances to play No. 3 Old Orchard Beach in the quarterfinals on Tuesday. No. 11 Kents Hill ends the season 6-9.  Daisi Poole added 14 points and 13 rebounds for Monmouth.  Sara Grenier scored a game-high 22 points for Kents Hill.

No. 8 St. Dominic 44, No. 9 Hall-Dale 35: In Auburn, the host Saints forced 34 turnovers to win the rubber match between the Mountain Valley Confernce rivals. Faith Grady led the winners with 18 points and 11 steals while Callie Greco added 14 pooints and nine rebounds. Nicole Pelletier led Hall-Dale with 11 points and teammate Natasha Brown scored eight. St. Dom’s (11-8) advances to play top-seeded Boothbay while Hall-Dale finishes at 9-10.
