MOSCOW — A man was hospitalized after being stabbed in the back in a fight with his brother early Saturday morning, according to police.
The Somerset County Sheriff’s Department responded to a report at 1:57 a.m. Saturday of an assault at a private residence on Pierce Hill Road, where they found a 32-year-old man with a stab wound in his back and some smaller cuts on his head. The man, whose name police would not release Saturday, was taken to Redington-Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan by ambulance, according to a news release from Detective Lt. Carl Gottardi, of the Somerset County Sheriff’s Department.
As of 4:30 a.m. he was reported to be in stable condition, Gottardi said.
His brother, Nathan Corcoran, 27, of Moscow, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault. According to the news release, the knife allegedly used in the stabbing was a large kitchen knife and was found at the scene.
Gottardi said that the investigation was ongoing and that further charges might come forward after the district attorney’s office reviews the case. In the meantime, he said he could not say whether either brother had a criminal record or what the dispute was about.
