BANGOR —The Bangor Rams scored three times in the third period to secure an 8-5 win over the Maranacook/Winthrop/Hall-Dale cooperative team in an Eastern A quarterfinal game at Sawyer Arena on Tuesday.

No. 2 Bangor improves to 12-5-2 and advance to play No. 3 St. Dominic in the semifinals Saturday at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee on Saturday. No. 7 MHW ends the season 10-7-2.

Bangor took a 2-0 lead in the first period on goals by Parker Sanderson and Cam Dickson. Dan Condon scored from Chris Stanley to bring MHW within one. Dickson scored again early in the second, followed by goals by Carl Farnham and Sanderson as Bangor stretched its lead to 5-1.

MHW answered with three straight goals, two by Matt Plourde and one by Zach Bessette to get within 5-4. Condon had three assists for the Hawks in the second, Jared Hanson had one.

Jordan Tracy scored to start the third for Bangor and Plourde finished his hat trick to get MHW back within one, 6-5. Justin Courtney and Zeb Tuell scored unassisted goals to cap the scoring for Bangor.
Tyler Plante stopped 18 shots for MHW, while Josh Delp had 30 saves for Bangor.
