SKOWHEGAN — The American Cancer Society Relay For Life Somerset County has started team registrations. For more information, visit RelayFor Life.org or call 800-227-2345.

A team captain’s meeting is set for 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 16, at the Skowhegan Area Middle School cafeteria. A committee meeting will immediately follow.

Former and current cancer patients, those who have lost a loved one to cancer, families, businesses, faith-based and civic organizations, and anyone wanting to make a difference in the fight against cancer are invited to take part in this team event.

The 2013 Relay For Life will take place from noon Saturday, June 15, to 6 a.m. Sunday, June 16, at the Skowhegan Fairgrounds.

Relay For Life events are held overnight as individuals and teams camp out at an athletic track, park or other gathering area, with the goal of keeping at least one team member on the track or pathway at all times throughout the evening.

Most fundraising is done prior to the event, but some teams hold creative fundraisers at their campsites during the Relay.
