It never ceases to amaze me how inconsiderate people are to the land and animals.

My son Stephen is a First Class Scout with Troop 410 in Vassalboro. For his Star badge, he had to do six hours of community service.

For one of the services, he decided to clean up the side of Cross Hill Road. He took off with two large garbage bags and one of those grabber thingies.

By the time he was done two hours later, he had gone barely a mile up the road and back and filled seven bags of garbage in that short span.

It just amazes me that people don’t care enough to throw their trash into the correct places.

He said much of the trash consisted of cigarette butts.

It’s really sad that people feel it’s OK to just throw their trash out the window.
