SCARBOROUGH — The drummer from The Doors is paying a visit to Maine for Record Store Day.

Saturday is the sixth annual Record Store Day, which was conceived in 2007 as a way to celebrate the culture of the more than 700 independently owned record stores in the U.S. and thousands more internationally.

John Densmore is launching his book-signing tour for his second book, “The Doors: Unhinged,” at the Bull Moose music store in Scarborough on Saturday as part of the Record Store Day festivities.

Record Store Day was the brainchild of Chris Brown, who works for Bull Moose, a chain of 11 record stores in Maine and New Hampshire. All the stores will have live music presentations during the day.
