BIDDEFORD — A legislative panel that’s tasked with cultivating a skilled work force and helping Maine’s small businesses is holding a listening session and tour in Biddeford.

The Joint Select Committee on Maine’s Workforce and Economic Future will tour the city’s North Dam mill on Friday. The redeveloped mill has more than 80 businesses, as well as residential units and commercial and event space.

The committee will also hear from business, community and downtown leaders on their thoughts on work force training and how to strengthen Maine’s downtown districts. A public hearing will be held at 4 p.m.

Friday’s stop in Biddeford is the committee’s third and final road trip. Its first stop was in Bangor and Orono, with a second stop in Belfast.
