SOUTH CHINA — Josh Bailey singled home Zack Isbell in the bottom of the eighth inning to give Erskine a 3-2 win over Edward Little in Kennebec Valley Atheltic Conference Class A baseball action Friday.

Isbell drew a walk with two outs and stole second to set up Bailey’s game-winner. Bailey had two hits for Erskine (2-5) while Lew Jensen singled twice for Edward Little (1-5). Shawn Soucie picked up the pitching win in relief of Nick Gayer.

Messalonskee 7, Brewer 2: Trevor Gettig had three singles and Zach Mathieu added a two-run single to lead the Eagles to the KVAC A win in Oakland.

Devin Warren chipped in with an RBI double for Messalonskee (5-2). Ben Frazee earned the win to run his record to 2-1.

Matt Pushard had a sacrifice fly for Brewer (3-4).

Winthrop 13, Dirigo 11: The Ramblers scored 10 runs in the fourth inning then held off a late charge from the Cougars to post the MVC win in Winthrop. They collected 13 hits, led by Ben Allen and Matt Sekerak, who each singled and doubled. Cabot Lancaster and Ben Caprara added two hits each for Winthrop (5-0). TJ Frost and Jack Brown had three hits apiece for Dirigo (4-2) while Hunter Ross and Matt Trenoweth had two apiece.

Maranacook 11, MCI 5: The Black Bears scored eight runs in the top of the first inning on their way to the KVAC B win in Pittsfield.

Maranacook’s Cam Brochu doubled, tripled and drove in three runs, while Carson Dalheim had a double and 2 RBIs. Jake Murphy added a two-run double for the Bears (3-4).

MCI (1-6) actually out-hit the Bears, 11-10. Parker Morrison, Greg Vigue, Cam Michaud and Dylan Watrous each had two singles for the Huskies.

Spruce Mountain 10, Monmouth 7: The Mustangs committed six erorrs in losing the MVC contest to the Phoenix. Alex Curtis led Monmouth hitters with a triple and single while Kyle Fletcher, Brandon Goff, and Billy Cummings had two hits apiece. Brandon Hodges and Pat Ryan had two hits each for Spruce Mountain (5-2). Monmuth is 5-1.

Cony 11, Lewiston 2: Zack Lachance had four hits and picked up the pitching win to lead the Rams to the KVAC Class A win in Lewiston. Tayler Carrier and Reid Shostak each singled and tripled for Cony (5-2) while Chandler Shostak had two singles. Lewiston is 5-2.

College baseball

Bates 5, Colby 4, 10 innings: Soren Hanson struck out 11 and Nathan Ellis had three hits and drove in a pair of runs but the Mules fell in New England Small College Athletic Conference action.

Colby (11-21) will finish the season at 1 p.m. today with a doubleheader against Amherst. Luke Duncklee, a Cony graduate, singled for the Mules.
