WATERVILLE — The Silence Howard Hayden Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution recently awarded Sarah Ringer from Waterville High School with the DAR Good Citizen Award. Ringer shared her plans to be an elementary school teacher.

The DAR Good Citizens contest is open to all senior class students enrolled in accredited public or private secondary schools. It consists of two parts. Part I — Personal, consists of the student describing how he/she has tried to manifest the qualities of a good citizen. Part II — Essay is administered under the supervision of a faculty or DAR member. It must be completed at one sitting, within a two-hour time limit and without assistance or reference materials.

Two other teenagers who were not in attendance will also receive the Good Citizen Award: Abby Stevens from Fort Kent Community High School, Fort Kent, and Carla Halvoson from Easton Senior High School, in Easton.
