FARMINGTON — The University of Maine Cooperative Extension in Franklin County is offering an apple pruning workshop from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, May 20 at the Cooperative Extension office at 138 Pleasant St. The class will be held rain or shine.

Dave Fuller, agriculture and nontimber forest products professional for UMaine Cooperative Extension, will teach why we prune, what kinds of cuts to make and learn by doing pruning in a hands-on demonstration. The class will start inside and then participants will travel to a nearby yard with apple trees of varying age, where pruning and training will be demonstrated. People are encouraged to dress to be outside and bring a favorite pruning tool. Questions are encouraged.

A $5 fee is payable the day of the class. Preregistration is required. To register, please call 778-4650. Class size is limited to 20 people. For more information or to request a disability accommodation to participate in this program, also call 778-4650.
