I believe Buddy Doyle’s theory as expressed in his May 5 letter, “Carton of cigarettes could pay for child to play ball.”

Cigarettes could pay for child care too.

We all know smoking is detrimental to the body and the area. That is why, when I retired from the Army in 1972, my wife and I both quit.

It would be awful if some parents told their kids that baseball was out of the question this summer and then they kept right on smoking.
