HARTLAND — Two people were arrested early Saturday morning after one of them allegedly fired a rifle during a domestic dispute, then ran off into the woods on Canaan Road.

No one was injured.

Paul Clayton Vigue, 28, of Hartland, was arrested without further incident, according to Dale Lancaster, chief deputy for the Somerset County Sheriff’s Department. Vigue was charged with reckless conduct.

Also charged was Aimee E. Lasco, 27, of Hartland. She was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear in court on a previous charge.

Neither had made bail by late morning.

Lancaster said police were called to 587 Canaan Road, also known as state Route 23, at 2:50 a.m. after a report of shots fired. County deputies set up a perimeter and closed the road as members of the state police tactical team made their way to the scene.

Sheriff’s Detective Lt. Carl Gottardi, working with the county district attorney’s office, secured an arrest warrant for Vigue, who voluntarily surrendered to police.

Lancaster said a .30-06 rifle was seized by police. He said it appeared one shot had been fired during the incident and that no threats were made.

Police cleared the scene at about 8 a.m. and reopened the road.
