WEST PARIS — A young man from western Maine is recovering from gunshot wounds after being shot by a state trooper on Saturday.

James Reynolds, 18, was shot by Maine State Police Trooper Jason Wing at about 6:45 p.m., police said. Wing was investigating a report of a suspicious man along the Roy Road in West Paris.

Police say Reynolds was armed with a hunting rifle, but have released few other details about the shooting.
