FARMINGTON — Franklin County commissioners voted Tuesday to increase the county portion of the property tax rate to $1.06 for every $1,000 of assessed value, up 5 cents from the previous year.
The increased tax rate will fund a $5.51 million county budget, up 4 percent from last year’s $5.29 million budget.
The assesed value of property in the county decreased by 0.6 percent this year, from $4.70 bilion to $4.68 billion.
The county property tax for a home valued at $100,000 would be $106 for county taxes, up $5 from the previous year. The county tax accounts for part of the total municipal tax rate paid by property owners and varies by town.
