I recently walked my two dogs in Capitol Park, as usual. I take having dogs as a pleasure and responsibility. Obviously, many do not. If we wish to have our pets welcome in parks and on rail trails we need to be considerate of others by cleaning up after them.

I stepped in a large pile of soft dog feces near picnic tables facing Union Street. It was disgusting and shows the disregard that person has for others.

It takes very little time to pick up after yourself, i.e. food and paper and clean up after your dog. There are trash receptacles located nearby.

Our common areas are for everyone to enjoy. People shouldn’t leave their messes for others to clean up.
