Doctor-turned-suspense novelist Tess Gerritsen will appear at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 23 at the Bailey Public Library in Winthrop as part of the ongoing Lakes Region Forum. After 23 successful novels, ranging from romantic suspense to New York Times best-selling medical and crime thrillers, Gerritsen’s books have been published in 40 countries and have sold over 25 million copies, as stated in a news release.

Gerritsen’s latest book, “Last to Die” was fifth on the New York Times bestseller list last year and is her 10th in the famed “Rizzoli and Isles” crime series starring homicide detective Jane Rizzoli and medical examiner Maura Isles. The “Rizzoli & Isles” TNT television series, starring Angie Harmon as police detective Jane Rizzoli and Sasha Alexander as medical examiner Dr. Maura Isles, is now in its fourth season.

“The only reason I write this series is to stay in touch with the characters. I want to know what happens next to them, in their professional and personal lives. This universe of characters — Jane, Maura, Frost, Korsak — are like real people to me, and each one of them is having issues and crises, and those crises often determine which plots are most interesting,” said Gerritsen.

Copies of her books will be available for sale at the event through Apple Valley Books. For more information, call the library at 377-8673 or visit baileylibrary.org.
