SKOWHEGAN — Skowhegan History House Museum & Research Center, in association with the Kennebec Heritage Council’s “Maine Plays,” will host a Children’s Heritage Fair from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the museum at 66 Elm St.
The event will be held rain or shine, but in the event the weather is nice, games and activities will be held on the Riverside Lawns. Children, accompanied by an adult, can enjoy toys and games that were popular in the 1850s and 1860s while learning about how children would have lived a century and a half ago. Crafts and trades of the period, like blacksmithing, spinning wool, chair caning and tatting will be demonstrated, and children’s books of the time will be shared.
The History House will be open for tours and Civil War-era refreshments will be offered.
