RICHMOND — Two men were taken to the hospital this morning with serious injuries after falling more than 20 feet while adding siding to a garage.

David Tremblay, 50, of Leeds, and Trent Labreque, 30, of Vassalboro, were both brought to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, said Richmond Police Chief Scott MacMaster.

Tremblay was flown to the hospital by LifeFlight of Maine helicopter after suffering head injuries. The injuries to both men were serious, but Tremblay’s were more so, MacMaster said.

As of Tuesday morning, Tremblay’s condition is listed as serious and Labreque’s family has requested his information kept private according to the hospital.

The men were working on separate ladders applying protective Tyvek to a private two-story garage on Pleasant Pond Farm Lane, off U.S. Route 201, when the accident occurred, MacMaster said.

He said it appears one of the men may have lost his balance and pulled the other to the ground, or a wind gust may have caught the paper and threw the men off balance.

“You can see where both ladders fell towards each other and there was Tyvek laying there,” MacMaster said. The men fell between 20 and 25 feet.

The men were apparently working for a third man, though MacMaster said there was no company name.

MacMaster said the Occupational Safety and Health Administration has been notified of the accident.
