BIDDEFORD — Cole Robinson pitched a three-hitter and drove in two runs to lead Fairfield Post 14 to a 4-1 win against Biddeford in the semifinals of the State Junior Amercian Legion baseball tournament Sunday. The winner was the second straight over Biddeford for Fairfield and advances the team to the state final on Thursday at Hadlock Field in Portland against a yet-to-be determined opponent.

Robinson struck out nine and issued one walk in going the distance for the win. He also contributed two doubles and a single and drove in a pair of run. Jonathan Wilkie and Adam Littlefield added two hits each for Fairfield (18-2) while Brady Croteau had a pair of hits for Biddeford (10-12).

New England 13-year-olds

Bedford, N.H. 12, Central Maine 4: Grant Lavigne picked up the pitching win and hit a grand Slam to lead Bedford, N.H. past Central Maine in the New England Babe Ruth tournament for 13-year-olds Sunday. The loss eliminated Central Maine from the tournament.

The winners broke the game open with six runs in the second inning. They collected seven hits in all and took advantage of 16 walks issued by four Central Maine pitchers. Kyle Jennings and John Barrett each singled and doubled for Bedford while Cody Pellerin doubled home a run for Central Maine and Josh Joy had an RBI single.

New England 14-year-olds

Manchester 9, Central Maine 8: Manchester scored early and often in eliminating Central from the New England Babe Ruth tournament for 14-year-olds Sunday in Westfield, Mass. The winners led 8-0 before Central Maine cut the lead to three runs with five in the bottom of the fourth inning. Central Maine trailed 9-8 going into the bottom of the seventh inning and put runner son first and second with no one out, but failed to score.

Sam Bell led Central Maine with a triple and two singles while teammates Pat Hopkins and Andrew Rodrigue each singled and doubled.
