WINTHROP — The 26th Annual Winthrop Sidewalk Art Festival will be held (rain or shine) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, in the downtown area.

Sponsored by the Winthrop Lakes Region Chamber of Commerce, the event features many artists and draws attendees from throughout the region.

This year’s lineup of artists includes, but is not limited to: Scott Ainsworth, Diane Amos, Ardys Arlin, Sharon Boody-Dean, Mark Christopher, Ruth Crovo, Gail Desjardins, Karen Dittman, Anna Edmondson, Susan Elliot, Sharon Field, Dawna Gardner, Kiri Guyaz, Alec Hartman, Diane Harwood, Cindy Heyse-David, Martha Hoddinott, Marvin Jacobs, Ronald Jubinville/Joan Bellucci, Denis Leblanc, Shell Moore, Todd Park, Doreen Paul-Hebda, Irene Rothe, Roland Simard, Mary Kay Spencer, Nancy Trider, Janice Tucker, Diane Wheeler and Sharon Williams.

Artists will give demonstrations during the festival, as stated in a news release.

The theme of this year’s Art Festival is “A Celebration of Winthrop,” and the artists’ exhibits will be complemented by many other special activities in Winthrop, including a concert, fundraisers, bake sales and luncheons. In addition to viewing and purchasing the art, attendees have the opportunity to take advantage of activities, as well as discounts and specials offered by local merchants. The plans include the following:

A barbecue and gumbo festival, hosted by the Rotary Club of the Winthrop Area, is set for 4:30-7:30 p.m. at the football field behind the police station.Tickets cost $10 per person or $30 per family.

A free concert is set for 2-4 p.m. at Norcross Point featuring Muddy Marsh Ramblers.

A bike safety rodeo is set for 10 a.m.-noon at the Winthrop Grade School parking lot. Grade-school age bicyclists can have bikes and helmets checked for safety and practice their biking on an obstacle course.
