On Monday, Aug.12, a truck turning on to Beech Hill Road from Route 2 used its engine brake, making an incredible racket. It was impossible to continue conversation.

There is a sign on Route 2 before this turn that requests truck drivers not to use engine brakes in Mercer but it is widely ignored. Why do truck drivers think it’s OK to do this? Why are they so inconsiderate with the use of engine brakes in communities where people want to have peace and quiet?

I know that engine brakes may save some small amount of brake lining wear, but I can’t imagine using the services of companies who are disrespectful of communities that wish for quiet.
