SKOWHEGAN — Family members and friends extended their search today for a Main Street man who was last seen Friday night.

Vaughn Giggey III, 40, left his apartment about 10 p.m. to walk to his mother’s house on Chamberlain Street, a relatively short distance away, his brother’s girlfriend, Katie Obert of Cornville, said this afternoon.

“He told his girlfriend he was going to his mother’s and never showed up,” Obert said. “None of us have any idea what happened.”

Obert said Giggey left without his cell phone and without the keys to his gold, Chevrolet pickup truck, which today remained parked outside his Main Street apartment. He did have his wallet with him, she said; she said he had not been drinking.

Giggey’s mother, Rosanne Dubay, said her son never showed up at her residence. Giggey works at the New Balance factory in Skowhegan, according to Obert.

Obert said family members have called police, the local hospital, the county jail, area motels and taxi companies but have not found a trace of Giggey.

Skowhegan police Officer Teresa Brown said Giggey’s father, along with other friends and family members, were searching the area between Giggey’s apartment and his mother’s house today.

“He has had no contact with anyone since Friday,” Brown said. “He’s not homicidal, suicidal. He doesn’t have any medical condition, so he’s not in any danger that way.”

Obert said Giggey is about 6 feet tall and weighs about 170 pounds and has a goatee.

Anyone with information on the missing person can call the Somerset County Regional Communications Center in Skowhegan at 474-6465.
