At the junction of Emily’s Way and South Ridge Drive in Winslow, there is a stop sign. Often, vehicles do not come to a complete stop at this sign. Children live on these roads and bike around this intersection.

Today, my son and I witnessed two people on a motorcycle approach the junction. At the same moment, a pickup truck towing a boat failed to stop at the stop sign and nearly collided with the motorcycle. The truck then braked and stopped in the middle of the road.

The motorcyclists narrowly escaped being struck. Next one of our children on a bike might get hit and killed or injured.

As I type this letter, my husband just saw a car drive through the stop sign, with no attempt to slow down or stop.

This stop sign is there for a reason. Drivers might save a life by stopping at it.
