WATERVILLE — Pilar Elias scored all five goals as the Waterville Senior High School girls soccer team beat Nokomis 5-0 in the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B opener for both teams Friday.

Elias scored twice in the first half and three times in the second half for Waterville. Sarah Shoulta had two assists, while Emily Dufour, Lydia Roy and Jenn Christensen each had one.

Taylor Temple had 15 saves for Nokomis.

MCI 3, Mt. View 0: Ashley Alton scored two unassisted goals and Brianna Losee added another to lead the Huskies to a season-opening win in Pittsfield.

Ryleigh Lord had 16 saves for MCI (1-0-0) while Tori Strain had 13 saves for Mt. View (0-1-0).

Erskine 2, Gardiner 0: Tasha Dutil and Emma Wilkinson each scored as the Eagles won the KVAC B opener in South China.

Machaela Sprague and Taylor Bailey chipped in with assists. Mattie Lajoie made 10 saves for the Eagles (1-0-0).

Maddy Cutler stopped 16 shots for Gardiner (0-1-0).

Richmond 15, Valley 0: Kelsea Anair had four goals, while Amber Loon had three goals as the Bobcats beat the Cavaliers in Richmond.

Miranda Martin and Haley Murphy each had two goals for Richmond (1-0-0). Sara Wright, Nicole Blake and Cassidy Harriman all added a goal for the Bobcats. Kelsi Obi stopped three shots to earn the win.

Kristin Savoy made 21 saves for Valley (0-1-0).

Madison 7, Spruce Mtn. 0: Kayla Bess scored four goals to pace the Bulldogs to a season-opening win in Mountain Valley Conference action in Madison. Madeline Wood added a goal and two assists while Kirsten Wood scored a goal and Kristie Vicneire recorded an assist. Savanna Kandiko made nine saves in goal for Madison (1-0-0) while Emily Keene had 13 for Spruce Mountain (0-1-0).

Mt. Ararat 4, Messalonskee 2: McKenna Brodeau scored two goals for Messalonskee, which lost its season opener to Mt. Ararat in Topsham.

Dani Krause, Natalie Burch, Nicole Ross and Libby Ouellette all scored goals for Mt. Ararat.

Boys

Waterville 3, Nokomis 0: Kaleb Kane scored two goals, one in each half, and Cam Gardiner added another to lead the Purple Panthers to the Eastern B victory in Newport.

Both of Kane’s goals came from about 35 yards out.

Liam Edwards had 15 saves to record the shutout for Waterville (1-0-0).

Nate Buck had 12 saves for Nokomis (0-1-0).

Richmond 5, Valley 0: Five different players scored as the Bobcats won the East/West Conference opener in Richmond.

Cameron Emmons, Brendan Emmons, Cody Tribbet, Nathan Tribbet and Tyler Soucy each scored unassisted goals. Dustin Sullivan made three saves. Sean Bernier, Bailey Johansen and Mikey Stewart were strong on defense all game for the Bobcats (1-0-0).

Cody Beane made 30 saves for the Cavaliers (0-1-0).

Erskine 1, Gardiner 0: Ryan Rodrigue scored with 17:45 left in the first half to give the Eagles the KVAC B opening win in Gardiner.

Joe York assisted on the goal. Jared Gartley made two saves for Erskine (1-0-0), which outshot the Tigers 11-4.

Kenneth Moore stopped seven shots for Gardiner (0-1-0).

Mt. View 2, MCI 0: The Mustangs scored a pair of second half goals on their way to a shutout win over the Huskies in Thorndike.

Jack Simpson and Bryan Jungels both scored for Mt. View (1-0-0). Joey Danna added an assist for the Mustangs.

College women

USM 3, Thomas 1: Jordan Grant scored a pair of goals to lead the Huskies to the non-conference win in Waterville. Emily Staples added a goal for the University of Southern Maine while Bronte Howorth scored for Thomas, assisted by Kajsa Kaudfelt. Kate Thibodeau turned in 12 saves for Thomas (0-3-0). USM is 2-1-0.
