Solutions to the problem of uninsured motorists have been proposed in the past. A while ago, an insurance agent told me that a bill to remedy the problem was turned down by our Legislature.

The gist of the bill was to require agents to notify the authorities when a customer canceled his insurance, unless he was changing companies.

It is a common practice for people to get proof of insurance, then cancel after their car is registered. With our technology, a program could be designed to allow sharing information between the insurance business and the appropriate state agency.

Now that federal agencies have access to our phone and Internet files, I believe our right to privacy has gone out the window. So let us focus on saving innocent people from financial ruin and find a way to enforce the law.
