SKOWHEGAN — The fourth and final person to be charged in connection with a March 2012 strong-arm robbery remained in jail today.

Brandon M. Blodgett, 24, was arrested Friday in connection with an attack on a man at an apartment in Skowhegan.

The attack sent a 34-year-old man to the hospital with facial and head injuries, police said. There are no other suspects.

“This is the last guy in a long line of suspects,” Skowhegan Police Chief Ted Blais said today. “He and the others knew he would be carrying cash and turned on him and beat him.”

The victim told police he was carrying the cash for the purchase of a motor vehicle, police said earlier this year when another man, Corey Scott Gardea, 20, was arrested and charged with robbery and theft for his part in the attack.

The victim had been invited to the 56 Waterville Road apartment about 11 p.m. on March 27, 2012, when he was jumped, beaten and robbed of $2,100 in cash.

Gardea was indicted by a Somerset County grand jury in June on a single count of robbery.

District Attorney Maeghan Maloney did not immediately return a call today for information on the cases.

Another person involved in the attack, Tammy Stadig, 35, pleaded guilty to criminal conspiracy and theft, both felonies, in November 2012. The more serious charge of felony robbery against Stadig was dismissed in exchange for the guilty pleas.

She was sentenced to serve five years in prison, with all but nine months suspended, and two years of probation. A third person, Dalton Turner, 19, was arrested on a robbery charge in connection with the case in April.

“During the investigation we uncovered a plot where they knew this guy was coming over with a lot of cash,” then-Deputy Police Chief Dan Summers said in May. “They were having a get-together over at Tammy Stadig’s house and the plan was that once he gets here, we’re going to rob this guy and split the money.”

Summers said the victim reported the crime and wrote a statement for police. All of the suspects were interviewed by police at the time, but initially there was not enough evidence to make any arrests.

Blodgett remains held on $1,000 cash bond on a felony robbery charge at the Somerset County Jail in East Madison. He made his initial appearance in court today, according to a jail intake worker. It is not known if he has a lawyer yet.
