Summit Natural Gas announced today that it will supply Inland Hospital and Redington-Fairview Hospital with natural gas service.

The two hospitals are the latest businesses in the Waterville area to convert to natural gas heating, contracting with the Augusta-based business to supply natural gas.

Both businesses cited lower energy costs as the primary reason to switch fuels, according to a news release from Summit.

Inland Hospital is a 48-bed community hospital in Waterville, while Redington-Fairview Hospital is a 25-bed critical access facility in Skowhegan that provides health care for more than 30,000 residents in Somerset County.

Summit Natural Gas was one of two natural gas businesses that the state split its natural gas contract with, along with Maine Natural Gas, which received 19 of the 30 projects, while Summit Natural Gas received 11 projects.

Inland Hospital and Redington-Fairview Hospital join Sappi Fine Paper North America, UPM Madison and Huhtamaki, and the city of Augusta as customers of Summit Natural Gas.
