AUGUSTA — A Manchester man is facing charges after reportedly driving his minivan into a Western Avenue store Wednesday evening.

Lucas J. Gragg, 32, was charged with driving to endanger, operating after suspension and operating under the influence of an intoxicant, believed to be heroin.

The crash occurred around 10 p.m., when Gragg reportedly drove his 2000 Dodge minivan through the front door of VIP Tires & Service. Augusta police Sgt. Christopher Shaw said the van went straight through the store’s glass front doors, without damaging the surrounding brick wall, and came to a stop a short distance inside the store.

Gragg was in the driver’s seat and unconscious when rescuers arrived. He regained consciousness a short time later, Shaw said. Gragg was not injured seriously.

VIP was open for business on Thursday.
