WATERVILLE — The Waterville boys soccer team scored three goals in the first half on their way to a 4-2 Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B win over Maine Central Institute on Thursday.

Mike Oliveira, Kaleb Kane and Patrick Keane all scored goals in the first half for Waterville (3-0-0). Cam Gardiner was credited with an assist on the Oliveira goal.

Danilo Guthrie scored the Panthers’ final goal with 15 minutes remaining in the second half, off a pass from John Violette.

Liam Edwards made 12 saves for Waterville.

Shane Hathaway and Slade Emery scored both of MCI’s goals in the first half.

Charles Moriarty made 16 saves for the Huskies (0-3-0).

Girls soccer

Waterville 8, MCI 0: Pilar Elias had four goals goals, while Lydia Roy had three goals and an assist as the Panthers cruised to a KVAC B win in Pittsfield.

Sarah Shoulta added a goal and an assist for the Panthers (3-0-0). Fotini Shanos had four saves.

Ryleigh Lord had 24 saves for MCI (1-1-0).

Field hockey

Mt. View 5, Maranacook 0: Kersey Boulay scored twice as the Mustangs beat the Black Bears in a KVAC B game called with 3:21 left in the second half due to inclement weather, in Thorndike.

Allyson Clary, Braley Leadbetter and Reanna Boulay also scored for Mt. View, which improves to 2-2-0.

Brianna Gotez had seven saves for Maranacook (1-2-0).

Gardiner 6, Waterville 1: Nickyia Lovely scored two goals as the Tigers beat the Panthers in a KVAC B game in Waterville.

Lily Chepke, Madeline Reny, Camden Cone and Abby Dunn also scored for Gardiner (3-1-0). Emalee Couture had four saves for the Tigers.

Sara Sack scored from Jena Nawfel for Waterville (1-2-1). Rachael Bergeron had 20 saves.
