FARMINGTON — Kaitlyn Bullen scored a goal and added an assist as the University of Maine at Farmington beat Endicott 3-1 in a non-conference field hockey game Saturday.
Delainey Kein and Kate Storey added goals for the Beavers while Chelsea Morley had an assist. Mackenzie Hurst scored for Endicott.
Lizetta Solarik made six saves for Endicott while Curran Brierley had four for UMF (1-1-0).

Tufts 3, Colby 0: The defending national champs outshot the Mules 38-9 en route to the NESCAC win in Medford, Mass. Emily Cannon, Chelsea Yogerst and Dakota Sikes-Keilp scored for the Jumbos (3-0-0). Sarah Evans made eight saves in goal for Colby (2-1-0).

Virginia 2, Maine 0: The No. 5 Cavaliers held the Black Bears to 10 shots in winning at the Sheraton Catamount Classic in Burlington, Vt. The Cavs opened the scoring when a shot deflected off Maine goalie Natasha Ford. Lucy Hayams added an insurance goal. Ford stopped four shots for Maine (2-4-0) while Jenny Johnson stopped four for Virginia (6-0-0).

Men’s soccer

Tufts 1, Colby 0: Tal Smith’s goal late in the first half stood u as the Jumbos won the NESCAC contest in Somerville, Mass. Max Hoppenot assisted. Cody Funkhousrer stopped five shots for Colby (1-2-0) while Scott Greenwood made one save for Tufts (3-0-0).

Tufts 2, Colby 0: Carla Kruyff scored in the first half and Alex Farris scored in the second to lift  the Jumbos to the New England Small College Athletic Conference win in Somerville, Mass. Emily Brook made eight saves in goal for Colby (0-2-0) while Rachel Chazin-Gray and Eileen McGarry combined for six saves for Tufts (1-2-0).

Women’s tennis

Thomas 7, Johnson State 2: Jessica Bowen won at first singles and teamed with Lindesey Allen to win at first doubles as the Terriers (1-2, 1-0 NAC) won their first match of the season. Allen also won her match at No. 4 singles.

Cross country

Colby-Sawyer cruised to the men’s title in the Terrier Classic hosted by Thomas College. Hayden Bunnell finished first in a time if 17:01 followed by teammate Benjamin Bunnell. Maine Maritime’s Matt Methot, Thomas’ Nick Kopf and MMA’s George Morrison. Maine Maritime finished second followed by the University of Maine at Farmington, Thomas, Johnson State, New England College and Husson.

Colby-Sawyer won the women’s race, getting a second place from Kylee Parker. Abby Shafer of New England College was the overall winner in 21:38.

The University of Maine at Augusta competed in a Yankee small College Conference meet inRandolph Center, Vt. led by freshman Jocelyn Acheson who finished third overall. Angelica Bulgin and Holly Dubord rounded out the scoring for the Moose. For the men, Winslow grad Sean Putman-Labbe led UMA followed by Gardiner grad John Nesbit and Charlie Tompson.

Also Saturday: Lawrence graduate Jess Poulin made two saves as the Husson women’s soccer team beat the University of Maine at Machias 1-0. … On Friday, Madison graduate Matt McClintock took first overall in the Big Ten Preview cross country race, helping Purdue University to a second place finish. McClintock completed the 8K course in 24:41.8. …Mt. Blue graduate Kelton Cullenberg finished first to lead the University of Maine cross country team to a second place finish at UMass on Saturday.
