WATERVILLE — The following Colby College September events are free and open to the public.

* Visiting Writers Series: Fiction Reading with Chantel Acevedo is set for 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Robinson Room, Miller Library.

Chantel Acevedo’s first novel, “Love and Ghost Letters,” won the Latino International Book Award and was a finalist for the Connecticut Book of the Year. Her most recent novel, “A Falling Star,” won the Doris Bakwin Prize in 2013 and is forthcoming from Carolina Wren Press. She is an associate professor of English and alumni writer-in-residence at Auburn University, where she founded the Auburn Writers Conference and edits the Southern Humanities Review. A reception and book signing will follow the reading.

* Noontime Art Talk featuring Lydia Moland is set for noon Wednesday at the Colby College Museum of Art.

Assistant Professor of Philosophy Lydia Moland will discuss censorship and 20th-century American art.
