Suspect charged with asaulting officer
AUGUSTA — A city police officer was assaulted but not seriously injured by a suspect resisting arrest on Tuesday night, police said.

Several officers responded to a report of disorderly conduct at Motel 6 on Edison Drive about 9:20 p.m.

Sgt. Christopher Shaw said several people were asked to leave the motel because they were being disruptive, and they were just leaving the property when officers arrived.

Three people in the van were very intoxicated, Shaw said. The driver, 18-year-old Katie J. Emmons, of Mount Vernon, was not, but she received summonses for other charges, including possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and having an open alcoholic beverage in the vehicle.

One of the passengers, 20-year-old Brandon L. Darveau, of Englewood, Fla., allegedly struck an officer and ran off; but poolice chased him down and arrested him on charges of assaulting an officer, resisting arrest and underage consumption of alcohol.
