WATERVILLE — Two women were taken to the hospital after a two-car accident at Colby College this afternoon.

A Nissan SUV turning left from Washington Street onto Armstrong Road failed to yield to an oncoming Oldsmobile sedan around 2 p.m. The Oldsmobile hit the side of the Nissan, according to Waterville police.

Police said Lori Cormier, 48, and Michelle Hovey, 27, who were in the Oldsmobile, had neck pain and were taken to the Thayer Campus of MaineGeneral Medical Center by Delta Ambulance.

Police said the driver and two passengers in the SUV had minor pain and scrapes, but they were treated at the scene.

Both cars were seriously damaged and towed from the scene. Traffic was diverted from Washington Street and Armstrong Road for about an hour after the crash.
