PORTLAND — The city is seeking a well-rounded, stately tree to be decorated and displayed in Monument Square throughout the holiday season.
The tree must be between 40 and 60 feet tall and located within 15 miles of Portland, according to a press release from Portland’s Downtown District, announcing that it’s now accepting submissions.
The city would cut down and remove the tree at no cost to the landowner. It will be decorated with 3,000 lights and lit at a ceremony Nov. 29 by a “very special guest,” the release said.
Submissions, with a picture of the tree and address and phone number of the owner, can be sent to info@portlandmaine.com or Portland’s Downtown District, 549 Congress St., Portland, ME 04101. They will be accepted until a tree is chosen.
