WINSLOW — A Winslow man was taken to the hospital with serious injuries after he was hit by a car while walking on Cushman Road tonight.

Matthew Woodard, of 482 Cushman Road, was taken to Inland Hospital in Waterville, said police Lt. Josh Veilleux. He said Woodard was bleeding and not conscious.

Woodard walked in front of an oncoming car about 200 feet from his driveway, Veilleux said. He said the driver of the Buick LeSabre was an 18-year-old woman. Her name was not available.

The accident happened about 8 p.m. on a winding section of the road that has no street lights and little shoulder. The road was closed to traffic between Taylor and Bassett roads. At around 9 p.m. Veilleux said he expected the road to remain closed for some time in order for the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Department to reconstruct the accident.

Veilleux said he was not sure whether there would be any charges and the accident was still under investigation.
