Gas line work to close Church Hill Road
AUGUSTA — The ongoing gas pipeline project will result in the closure of a well-traveled city road over the weekend.
Church Hill Road between South Belfast and North Belfast avenues will close around 7 a.m. Saturday, Deputy Chief Jared Mills of the Augusta Police Department said in a news release. The section of Church Hill Road is expected to reopen Sunday morning.
The road closure is the result of Summit Natural Gas’ construction work at the intersection of Church Hill Road and South Belfast Avenue, which is Route 105. Crews plan to install a gas pipeline across South Belfast and continue west on Church Hill Road.
Emergency vehicles that need to access the closed section of Church Hill Road will only be able to do so from North Belfast Avenue, which is Route 3, Mills said.
