Car rear-ends truck; police investigating

WINSLOW — A two-vehicle accident caused a brief delay Thursday afternoon on U.S. Route 201.

A white Nissan Sentra rear-ended a Hammond Lumber flatbed truck, lodging itself under the truck. The truck appeared to be stopped for road construction about 100 yards away, according to Winslow police.

The Nissan’s driver was taken to Thayer Campus of MaineGeneral Medical Center for precautionary reasons, police said.

The Hammond Lumber truck, which had a couple of wooden boards on the flatbed, was stopped about 200 yards from Howard Cemetery when the driver of the Nissan rear-ended the truck. The accident’s cause is under investigation, but police think the driver was distracted before colliding with the truck.
