MADISON — A woman was taken to the hospital after her car was heavily damaged in a collision with a logging truck on Russell Road Friday morning, according to police.

The woman, whose name was unavailable, was taken to Redington-Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan with injuries that were not life threatening, said Sgt. David Trafk of the Madison Police Department.

It appeared that the tractor-trailer, which was not damaged, backed out of a driveway and into the oncoming car shortly before 8 a.m., although the accident is still under investigation, said Trafk. The name of the driver of the tractor-trailer was unavailable Friday afternoon, he said.

Trafk said Madison police and state police are working with the district attorney’s office on the investigation. It is likely there will be minor charges, he said.

The accident took place a few miles from the Skowhegan town line and was also responded to by the Anson and Madison fire departments.
