SANFORD – Police say they’ve charged a 46-year-old New Hampshire man with robbing two banks in Maine.

Sanford police say Philip Gage was arrested without incident Thursday morning in front of his apartment in Somersworth, N.H.

Authorities say Gage faces federal charges in connection with the Oct. 19 robbery of a Kennebunk Savings Bank in Eliot and an Oct. 26 robbery of an Ocean Communities Federal Credit Union in Sanford.

In the Eliot robbery, two men wearing ski masks entered the bank. One of the men displayed a handgun before they fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

In the Sanford robbery, a single suspect displayed a weapon before leaving with cash.

No other arrests have been made and the investigation is continuing.

It was unclear if Gage has an attorney.
